Coach Pete Silvaggio
ABOUT ME
I’m an astrophysicist starting my 8 years at NASA, first at Institute for Space Physics in New York City and then at Ames Research Center in Northern California helping design, build, and calibrate 2 interplanetary instruments that probed the atmosphere of Venus and Jupiter. I transitioned to 25 years working on advanced strategic weapons for various “alphabet organizations” and had 3 missions to Moscow. This career change came about only because I was recruited by some opposing volleyball players. I coach volleyball because the sport changed my entire career trajectory. I retired at an early age and taught 8 years of College Physics for fun. I earned my PhD from Cornell University (Carl Sagan was my thesis advisor).
