Athletics Announcement - December 17, 2021

Congratulations, we made it to the end of the first semester!  I hope that finals went well for everyone and that you are able to enjoy this break with family and friends.

Basketball season has started!  We kicked off of the year with the inaugural Bob Lavoie Invitational tournament.  Bob, and his wife Jean, were grandparents of JA alumni Michael and Gia Ferrero and ardent supporters of JA Basketball and Baseball.  JA represented well as all four teams made it to the finals, with the boys varsity team winning the championship.  The other winners were Resurrection Christian girls varsity and JV and Arrupe Jesuit boys JV.

A late add-on to last month’s post season awards issue.  The Boys Soccer all state teams were released and the Jags had five players make the list.  Bear Bauer and Chyler Ward were awarded first team, Jeremiah Davis and Drew Smith earned second team honors, and Jonah Elstad made honorable mention.  Congratulations!

I am excited to announce that we have hired Ceteria Foster as the first Jefferson Academy girls softball coach.  She has been an assistant coach with Thomas Jefferson after moving to Colorado from Houston, TX.  Keep watching for updates as we will start holding preseason meetings and workouts beginning next semester.  If you would like to be added to the email list for information about softball and it comes out, please fill out this short form (softball email list)

Junior high basketball is in between seasons.  The boys wrapped up their seasons with the B-team coming out on the short end of a 1-point loss in the league championship.  The girls will start their season once we get back from break, so if you are playing next semester be sure to get all of your paperwork in ahead of time.

Preseason workouts for Spring Sports have started up already.  If you are interested, check in with the coach for details.

Want to help raise money for your student’s sport or club?  Sign up to run the concession stand during one of our home games and half of the money you raise that night goes back to your sport/club.  There are nights we will be running five basketball games, so take advantage of this easy opportunity.  You will need to go through the training if you have not already worked concessions and you can contact Amanda Beck for more information about those times.

Thank you so much and we look forward to a great season!

Game schedules are now available online.  You can find those on the Team Schedules website.  As we learned last year, much can change during the course of a season.  Be sure to check with the schedules frequently for any changes.  They are live links with the most up-to-date adjustments.

You can support JA Athletics by helping to fill those empty spaces below our scoreboards.  We are getting closer to filling up all the spaces.  If you have a business interested in sponsoring a square, check out our flyer or contact Craig Melville (

If you are interested in getting a letter jacket, our supplier, Sportline, is undergoing some changes.  They have recently merged with BSN sports.  Their website is undergoing some upgrades and so they are only taking walk-in orders or over-the-phone orders at this time.  Their new location is on the east side of Wadsworth in that shopping center off of 64th.

Be sure to follow us on Twitter for all of our scores and updates @JA_Athletics and on Instagram @jefferson_academy_athletics

You can find a copy of this update online at the JA Athletics/Announcements website.
