Mrs. Garcia was born in Burlington Vermont and then raised in Holland on the shore of Lake Michigan. Attending NAU in Flagstaff Arizona for her undergraduate studies, Mrs Garcia completed a double major in Cultural Anthropology and Art Education and a minor in Studio Art. In 2001 Mrs Garcia studied abroad, exploring the land of Australia. She began her teaching career at Chino Valley High School in Arizona before moving to Colorado in 2008 where she became the art teacher at Jefferson Academy. Since then Mrs Garcia has completed her graduate studies through Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design and earned certification through the the Alternative Education Resource Organization. Outside of school, Mrs. Garcia loves spending time outdoors, especially with her husband and her son, Oceano. In the summers she is bound to the beach, feet buried in the sand. In the winter she enjoys snowboarding. Mrs. Garcia is an avid Bikram yogi and music and art are her muse.
